and then we snapped: week 17

Hi there! I’m sharing another week of my life in photos. This is what Novebmer 2-November 9 looked like. I actually had to add an extra day in to have enough photos to share this time around! I went to new places and played with light and shadows in week 17 to try and scrape up some creative energy. I even took my camera to the car wash looking for photographic inspiration! As always, some things worked out, and some didn’t, but nevertheless, here’s what I created! And, I thank you for taking the time to look! Remember to follow the circle around to see the awesome talent of the ladies of and then we snapped. This week I link to the extremely talented Jenny of Through my Lens by Jenny.   121|365: When I found you “reading” in your room 122|365: When I watched you escape from your crib by your “own self” 🙂 123|365: When I took my camera along for the ride through the car wash and saw pretty shapes and tones. 124|365: When I said it was time to take off the kitty ears, and you protested. A lot. 125|365: When just the two of us […]

Welcome back to my 365 project! Wow, October was a long month! I don’t know about you, but when I’m pouring my heart and soul into my client work, sometimes my personal work gets put on the back burner. I had to really push this month to even pick up my camera unless I was shooting for clients. And when I did manage to pick it up, I felt next to nada in the inspiration department. But, I kept picking up the camera and just tried different things, looking for that special ‘something’….I attached different lenses, slowed down my shutter, looked for new locations, and looked more closely at my immediate environment. In the end, some things worked, some things didn’t, but I kept on keeping’ on, because I love it. A huge thanks to my support group, the ladies of  and then we snapped. They make me accountable, offer support, and pick me up when I’m in a creative rut. I have met photographers near and far on this journey. This week, I link to one who is very near to me, a fellow Minnesotan photog 🙂 Check out Ally Wasmund Photography’s blog to see the beautiful images she […]

Thanks for stopping by! I’m excited to have reached the 100 day mark in my photo-a-day project! Admittedly, I’ve been a little lax about getting one photo EVERY day during the month of October since it’s been so busy, but I am definitely still snapping every week :). I am sharing my world in photos for the week of October 12-18. This was our peak week for fall foliage colors in the Twin Cities metro area, and I absolutely LOVE the warm fall afternoon light. Both inspired my captures this week. We also picked out pumpkins and soaked in some sun at the park during one of the last warmish days of fall. And, I continued to play around with my macro lens. Thanks for taking a look! And, when you’re done, hop over to see what Erica of Love Baby Life shared this week in the And then we Snapped circle   99|365: When you found a treasure floating by. 100|365 (woo hoo for 100 days!): When you and daddy shared sweet moments together. I’m so thankful to have these moments captured <3 101|365: When your grubby, adventurous hands picked up this lovely yellow leaf. 102|365: When I spotted […]

Ok, well Tuesday snuck up on me this week! October continues to be extremely busy for my business, but I am still trying to squeeze in some personal photos for myself, and of course for the 365 project!

and then we snapped : week 12

Hi there! I’m sharing my images from the week of September 28th-October 4th. This is the week that I broke down and bought a lens I’ve been wanting for quite some time-the 105mm macro. I am so intrigued with capturing details, that I felt like this was a good addition to my camera bag. I had every intention of selling another lens to lessen the blow to the pocket book, but, turns out I’m having a really difficult time letting any of my other lenses go! I was thinking this would replace my 85mm as a portrait lens, but I find the 105mm to be too slow focusing for portrait work, especially considering the average age of my subjects is (a fast-moving) 4 years old! Anyway, I’m enjoying using the macro for non-human subjects, as well as with my own kids and clients. So, no big surprise that several  all of my captures from this week were with the new toy :). Side-note, there’s much more of a learning curve to macro photography that I expected, but I’m totally enjoying it! Remember to follow the link at the bottom to continue on to see more of the And then we […]

Hello! I’m back again to share my life in photos along with the other talented ladies of “And then we Snapped.” I’m posting what my life looked like the week of September 21-27. The leaves continued to change, and the days started to get shorter. My oldest was having a tough week, so I ended up capturing my little one and pieces of the world around me all week. I’m still in the thick of photo season, but doing my best to capture seven photos every week! After you peek at my week, you can hop over to see what Mel of Mel Karlberg Photography snapped!   78/365: When you begged to bead. 79/365: When I spotted an overachieving blade of grass. 80/365: When you joined me for breakfast. 81/365: When the grass around the tree was too tall for the kids, so I captured the tree by itself. 82/365: When I went for a drive to capture the sunset and saw this. 83/365: When I asked you to show me your leaf treasures. 84/365: When you were surrounded in the golden light.   Thanks for visiting! Don’t forget to follow the circle around to see some gorgeous work! You […]

Welcome back to my 365 project and the And Then We Snapped Blog Circle! I’m sharing images from September 7-13, which was an incredibly busy week! For the first time I dropped BOTH of my kids off at pre-school. It was  little more emotional that I thought it would be, and my house seemed a bit quiet and lonely….but that was short-lived! My little energetic loves filled the house with (beautiful!?) noise a couple of hours later. Besides starting preschool, the two girls also started dance class, and my in-laws came up from Texas for a visit. I’m surprised I had time to even think about taking out my camera, but I did manage to click a few times….. You are invited to continue the circle by visiting Jana’s blog to check out her 365 project! 64/365:  When you asked special permission to use art supplies that were not out for use, and the teacher said ‘yes,’ you knew you were gonna like this place 😉 65/365: When the two of you posed your selves for momma’s obligatory first-day-of-school photo 66/365: When you practiced your positions before your first dance class.   67/365: When Cappy And Gabby came to visit. and then we snapped | week 7

Welcome to week 7 of ‘And the we Snapped.’ I’m doing a little bit of catch-up this week, so I’m sharing two weeks of my images. These are from August 17 to August 30. We were trying to make the most of the final weeks of August before the kids started school. We made several trips to the arboretum, took walks around the neighborhood, had a follow-up appointment on the little one’s broken arm, and the hubby and I even squeezed in a date night. Doing this 365 project is really forcing me to attempt some images sans kids…we’ll see where it takes me 🙂 It’s definitely not in my comfort zone! I was also recently challenged to do a 30-day photo project and am starting to brainstorm ideas-thinking of pushing myself and making it faceless. Hmmmmm!?!? Don’t forget to continue the circle! I link to the talented Annie of Annie Otzen Photography. 43/365: when you got stuck inside the playhouse at the arboretum…and I stopped to take a picture before helping you out… ::cowers in shame:: 44/365: when I found your handprints immediately below a sign that read: “do not climb” 45/365: when I spotted the imperfection on this […]

Welcome to my 365 project!  I am still playing catch-up with my photos. So, I’m sharing the week of July 29 – August 2. It was a busy week filled with some firsts like a first nail salon visit for the littles, an X-ray for a suspected broken bone, and some old favorites, like staying out to play until the sun set. Once you’ve viewed my week, I invite you to follow along the ‘And then we Snapped’ blog circle to see more project | 365s from a slew of uber-talented photographers. Find the link following my images.   22/365: when you got your first pedicure at a nail salon with momma. 23/365: when you weren’t ready to wake up from nap 24/365: when you & daddy spent the afternoon in the backyard…harvesting the first cucumbers and looking for wildflowers 25/365: when you wanted the swinging to last forever, since this is the first summer you can pump your legs all by yourself 26/365: when we all headed to the doctor to get an X-ray on the littlest little’s arm, following a fall the night before. An X-ray of the wrist & elbow revealed no broken bones. 27/365 when I […]

Welcome to the 3rd installment of my 365 project, and the 3rd week of my collaboration with an amazing group of photographers.  This is a look at my week of July 20-26th….the heart of summer in MN. 15/365: When you slowed down for a few seconds to have a snack at the beech (lens baby sweet 35) 15/365: When I had to pause for a moment and look at your freckles….because I love them, and you get more every day <3  (freelensed) 17/365: When is was WAY too quiet upstairs and I walked in on you two partners in crime, who snuck in some unauthorized time on the iPad.  18/365: When we went on a walk on a hot summer day and I couldn’t stop taking pictures of the wildflowers, which are synonymous with our landscape in July. And also, I pretended I can create images of non-humans! 19/365: When you took a little longer than expected to brush your teeth, and I walked in to find you naked on the counter giving your self a bath in the sink. 20/365: When you were so proud of the self-portrait you made with chalk. And I was proud, too. 21/365: When […]
