and then we snapped : week 12

Hi there! I’m sharing my images from the week of September 28th-October 4th. This is the week that I broke down and bought a lens I’ve been wanting for quite some time-the 105mm macro. I am so intrigued with capturing details, that I felt like this was a good addition to my camera bag. I had every intention of selling another lens to lessen the blow to the pocket book, but, turns out I’m having a really difficult time letting any of my other lenses go! I was thinking this would replace my 85mm as a portrait lens, but I find the 105mm to be too slow focusing for portrait work, especially considering the average age of my subjects is (a fast-moving) 4 years old! Anyway, I’m enjoying using the macro for non-human subjects, as well as with my own kids and clients. So, no big surprise that several all of my captures from this week were with the new toy :). Hello! I’m back again to share my life in photos along with the other talented ladies of “And then we Snapped.” I’m posting what my life looked like the week of September 21-27. The leaves continued to change, and the days started to get shorter. My oldest was having a tough week, so I ended up capturing my little one and pieces of the world around me all week. I’m still in the thick of photo season, but doing my best to capture seven photos every week! My Minnesota | September Edition

Welcome back to the My Minnesota blog circle! I’m sharing images from some of my family’s favorite September adventures for this edition of My Minnesota. We started the month with a visit to a local apple orchard where the girls picked apples, met horses, and checked out farm equipment. I took the girls to a local Mexican bakery and grocery store, where I found I could purchase Mexican vanilla, one of my favorite baking staples! My hubby and I got to tour some local wineries with a group of awesome neighbors. We made our annual visit to Sever’s corn maze. I did some location scouting on my own where I found some lovely scenery and saw some spectacular fall sunsets. And, the girls got to travel with me to a shoot where they got to ride AND feed horses! Welcome back to my 365 project and the And Then We Snapped Blog Circle! I’m sharing images from September 7-13, which was an incredibly busy week! For the first time I dropped BOTH of my kids off at pre-school. It was little more emotional that I thought it would be, and my house seemed a bit quiet and lonely….but that was short-lived! My little energetic loves filled the house with (beautiful!?) noise a couple of hours later. Besides starting preschool, the two girls also started dance class, and my in-laws came up from Texas for a visit. I’m surprised I had time to even think about taking out my camera, but I did manage to click a few times….. and then we snapped | week 8

Welcome back to my 365 photo project and the And Then We Snapped blog circle. Before I fully committed to this 365 project, I asked for advise on how to be successful. The one tip that stuck with me was to allow myself to take seven photos per week, rather than stress out about getting one photo per day. Annnnnd, I definitely cashed in on that advise for the week of August 31- September 4, which I’m sharing here 🙂 I took well over seven images that week, but I think I only shot for my project on maybe 3-4 different days. I am even sharing one extra, which is better than the 4 extra that I originally planned…. I’m only two months into my project, but in addition to the seven photo/week advice, I’d also urge anyone starting (or in the middle of) a 365 project to find a supportive group of photographers who are ALSO completing a 365 project. I was lucky enough to jump into such a group. These fellow photographers have provided not only support, but also laughs, and new friendships. and then we snapped | week 7

Welcome to week 7 of ‘And the we Snapped.’ I’m doing a little bit of catch-up this week, so I’m sharing two weeks of my images. These are from August 17 to August 30. We were trying to make the most of the final weeks of August before the kids started school. We made several trips to the arboretum, took walks around the neighborhood, had a follow-up appointment on the little one’s broken arm, and the hubby and I even squeezed in a date night. Doing this 365 project is really forcing me to attempt some images sans kids…we’ll see where it takes me 🙂 It’s definitely not in my comfort zone! I was also recently challenged to do a 30-day photo project and am starting to brainstorm ideas-thinking of pushing myself and making it faceless. Hmmmmm!?!? Don’t forget to continue the circle! I am shocked that it’s already the sixth week of the ‘And then we Snapped’ blog circle! Being a part of this supportive group of photographers has made the plunge into my 365 project something I look forward to, rather than something to dread 🙂

project | 365 : week 1

So, I started a photo-a-day project at the beginning of July-on my birthday to be exact. And, I’ve been hoarding the photos on my computer ever since. And, I have decided to blog these photos of my daily life, hereby making this project “official!!” And, don’t be surprised if it looks like I took several pictures in one day…because I probably did…because I’m taking the advice of a fellow photographer and allowing myself to take 7 photos per week, versus strictly one each day (in hopes that this will be a successful 365 project). And, in another effort to be successful on this venture, while also supporting others on a similar journey, I am participating in a project|365 blog circle! So, I invite you to follow along on my journey, and also to follow the blog circle around to see the work of my fellow photographers.
