st. paul lifestyle newborn photographer OK, I admit it! Older siblings are total wild cards during at-home newborn sessions. It can be even more challenging when they’re toddler or preschool age. But I wouldn’t want it any other way. And, fortunately, having two silly little girls of my own has provided ample hands-on training for these situations! The truth is, the big kids always bring something so genuine to the photos. Their emotions are raw and real. This session with baby girl M was no exception. I absolutely LOVED how baby M’s session turned out. The light in the house was dreamy. Baby girl was gorgeous. Her parents were so in love with her. Everyone was comfortable and relaxed. And, of course, big brother was amazing. He was curious, silly, funny and smart. Here’s a peek at this precious new family of four! I am currently booking in-home newborn sessions and fresh 48 in-hospital sessions for November 2015 and on. Fairview Southdale Fresh 48 photographer This awesome momma & her hubby have two precious girls at home. They just welcomed their THIRD daughter a little over a week ago! I was lucky enough to photograph their fresh 48 session at Fairview Southdale hospital in Edina. I remember how hard the first few days with baby are. Even when it’s not your first time! The time at the hospital can seem like a blur. SO, I am super grateful when families allow me to visit during those first precious hours. Expecting a baby? Minnetonka Engagement Photography | M & T

minnetonka engagement photography | M & T I met this sweet couple about a year ago. The groom-to-be is the brother of friends/neighbors of mine. The couple is from Wisconsin and came along for my friends’ fall photo session. They were back in Minnesota this weekend. And, I am thrilled that they asked me to photograph their engagement photos while they were here! The bride-to-be requested water, a pier and a beach for her photos. I think we landed at the perfect location! We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful night. The sun was hot. The sky was blue. And, there was just enough cloud cover to cool us off every few minutes. It would have been nice if the humidity and bugs would’ve stayed away, though! We all came away with bug bites. We saw more creepy, crawly things than we cared to. But, it was all for a good cause, right!? I know it is hard to be on that side of the lens. And, it’s even tougher when there’s an audience! Minneapolis family photographer | the S family The majority of my clients are in the suburbs west of Minneapolis. But, I have had several clients in SW Minneapolis lately. (Thanks so much to the families who refer my services, by the way!!) I adore the tree-lined streets, and the charm of the older homes there. And, I am a little jealous of how many great restaurants and cafes are just a stone’s throw away. So, I was pumped to return a couple weeks ago to meet the S family! I know, I know. I probably say it ALL the time. But really, this family is AWESOME! We had a very client-led session. As you’ll see from the images, big sister was totally on board :). She was bursting with creativity and personality. She read books. She played dolls. And, it was with her grandma’s dollhouse! So cool! She dressed up in a princess dress with a cape. She doted on her sweet baby brother. And, at the end of the session, she asked if she could bring out her OWN camera. Um, YES PLEASE! and then we snapped | weeks 50 & 51 Wow, wow, wow! I can almost NOT believe that I have just ONE week of photos left to share! I am sharing another double dose of images this week. I’m sharing more summery goodness this round. We soaked up the warm sun. We played with bubbles and water, and we harvested more veggies from our garden. There’s no big blog circle this week. chaska photographer| family & fireworks Chaska Photographer | The 4th of July was always one of my favorite holidays growing up. And, now it’s a favorite for my family! This was by far the best 4th holiday we’ve had. This year the kids were old enough to do a little more than in years past. We are able to cut the naps a little shorter. And, the littles stayed awake a little later. They were even allowed to watch the entire fireworks show. That was a first for both girls. Too bad no one slept in on the fifth! We usually visit the local Chanhassen fair. This year, the popular event, A Taste of Minnesota was held close to home. So we gave it a visit instead. The kids loved the carnival rides and getting a “taste of Minnesota.” Both girls rode ponies. There was even a petting zoo! We wrapped up with some quintessential fair fare, cotton candy and snow cones. After the “taste,” the kids took power naps. Then, I painted my girls’ faces (a tradition on the 4th). Summer is in full swing in Minnesota! So, my weeks (sorry, I am sharing a double dose of my life..plus a few extras) are full of wet, wild, summery fun. We visited the zoo & the beach, skipped naps (some of us!), stayed up late, splashed in the rain and water hose, and harvested some veggies from our garden. Even my hubby makes a cameo! And, I’m excited to say that I am SO close to wrapping up my first 365 project-technically only one more week of shooting!! Eeek! I’m linking up with a couple ladies of and then we snapped this week. Wow, only SIX weeks left of my 365 project! This week was the last week of preschool for my girls, and my mom came up from TX to visit for a few weeks. We visited the science museum, the girls dressed up in new twirling dresses, E napped in Nana’s bed, and A made wishes with Nana. And, I am sharing another all monochromatic week! I’ve never shared an all black + white week (I don’t think)….so I thought, why not?! I also realized that every image here was shot with my 105mm macro lens. Not all of them are “macro” shots. my Minnesota: {macro} May edition

I am back teaming up with my Minnesota photog friends! My Minnesota in May was all about the buzzing bees, new life and a colorful, changing landscape. So, with all that inspiration, I worked on my macro photography quite a bit! We had many visits to one of our favorite Minnesota spots, the MN landscape arboretum, and also hung out in our own yard. One of the hi-lights of the month was a (we think freshly hatched) butterfly that crawled all over our flowers and our hands for hours without flying away!
