I’ve never shared an all black + white week (I don’t think)….so I thought, why not?! I also realized that every image here was shot with my 105mm macro lens. Not all of them are “macro” shots. If you like, you can see a recent post of my macro images here! Here is week 45 of my 365 project. I’m sharing images  309-315 from May 10-16. Annnnnd, I am linking up with the lovely ladies of and then we snapped. Seriously, I would’d have given this project up 44 times over if not for throe support! You can check out their work starting with the incredibly talented Cynthia Dawson. Here we goooo!   Next, stop by and see what Cynthia snapped! She is a true talent, and I’m always wowed by her work!

my Minnesota: {macro} May edition

I am back teaming up with my Minnesota photog friends! My Minnesota in May was all about the buzzing bees, new life and a colorful, changing landscape. So, with all that inspiration, I worked on my macro photography quite a bit! We had many visits to one of our favorite Minnesota spots, the MN landscape arboretum, and also hung out in our own yard. One of the hi-lights of the month was a (we think freshly hatched) butterfly that crawled all over our flowers and our hands for hours without flying away! I link up to the talented Sarah of Sarah Ann Photography this month! Follow the link to see what Sarah’s Minnesota looked like.     You can check out what Sarah’s Minnesota looked like here!

Hi there! I’m back to share another week in photos! I’m sharing the good, bad and ugly this week.  In order to see this project to completion, and to maintain my sanity (what’s left of it), I stay about one month behind in sharing what I shoot. Most of the time, it’s a brilliant little system, but then weeks like April 12-18th happen and when I get ready to blog my photos from 4 weeks ago, only to discover that I shot just three days out of the week! Oooooops! The good news is that I brought out the macro that week and captured some of the first looks at spring. I also managed to capture my kids in our everyday, which is not really bad news, but more like “keeping it real” news….down to the tantrums, dirty walls & floors, and a big ol’ blown hi light, just for good measure 😉 I’m still teaming up with the ladies of and then we snapped in the 365 blog circle. I link to Kelly Jacobi this week. I so admire her work, especially her moody black + whites and use of light! I do appreciate you stopping by to take a look […]

Thanks for stopping by! I’m excited to have reached the 100 day mark in my photo-a-day project! Admittedly, I’ve been a little lax about getting one photo EVERY day during the month of October since it’s been so busy, but I am definitely still snapping every week :). I am sharing my world in photos for the week of October 12-18. This was our peak week for fall foliage colors in the Twin Cities metro area, and I absolutely LOVE the warm fall afternoon light. Both inspired my captures this week. We also picked out pumpkins and soaked in some sun at the park during one of the last warmish days of fall. And, I continued to play around with my macro lens. Thanks for taking a look! And, when you’re done, hop over to see what Erica of Love Baby Life shared this week in the And then we Snapped circle   99|365: When you found a treasure floating by. 100|365 (woo hoo for 100 days!): When you and daddy shared sweet moments together. I’m so thankful to have these moments captured <3 101|365: When your grubby, adventurous hands picked up this lovely yellow leaf. 102|365: When I spotted […]

and then we snapped : week 12

Hi there! I’m sharing my images from the week of September 28th-October 4th. This is the week that I broke down and bought a lens I’ve been wanting for quite some time-the 105mm macro. I am so intrigued with capturing details, that I felt like this was a good addition to my camera bag. I had every intention of selling another lens to lessen the blow to the pocket book, but, turns out I’m having a really difficult time letting any of my other lenses go! I was thinking this would replace my 85mm as a portrait lens, but I find the 105mm to be too slow focusing for portrait work, especially considering the average age of my subjects is (a fast-moving) 4 years old! Anyway, I’m enjoying using the macro for non-human subjects, as well as with my own kids and clients. So, no big surprise that several  all of my captures from this week were with the new toy :). Side-note, there’s much more of a learning curve to macro photography that I expected, but I’m totally enjoying it! Remember to follow the link at the bottom to continue on to see more of the And then we […]
