Minnetonka Family Photographer | V Family I had a blast during my golden hour park session with this precious family of three. St. Paul Documentary Photographer

St. Paul Documentary Photographer I have probably said it before, but I will say again how much my own family treasures the photos of our everyday life. We get posed family photos almost every year, but nothing beats looking through photo books of the candid moments, everyday activities and special events. So, I am always over the moon excited when families hire me for in-home storytelling sessions! I followed this family around their home as they just hung out being themselves.  The kids played with favorite toys, practiced new skills (like crawling!!), and the whole family walked to their favorite park. I captured new teeth, giggles, cries, cuddles, tickles & peeks. How wonderful to be able to look back on these times and remember not only what they looked like, but also what they felt like!? Check out the amazing S family and what their weekend mornings look like! Interested in booking a session? Contact me here, or message me via my Facebook page!

and then we snapped: week 15

Welcome back to my 365 project! Wow, October was a long month! I don’t know about you, but when I’m pouring my heart and soul into my client work, sometimes my personal work gets put on the back burner. I had to really push this month to even pick up my camera unless I was shooting for clients. And when I did manage to pick it up, I felt next to nada in the inspiration department. But, I kept picking up the camera and just tried different things, looking for that special ‘something’….I attached different lenses, slowed down my shutter, looked for new locations, and looked more closely at my immediate environment. In the end, some things worked, some things didn’t, but I kept on keeping’ on, because I love it. A huge thanks to my support group, the ladies of  and then we snapped. They make me accountable, offer support, and pick me up when I’m in a creative rut. I have met photographers near and far on this journey. This week, I link to one who is very near to me, a fellow Minnesotan photog 🙂 Check out Ally Wasmund Photography’s blog to see the beautiful images she […]

and then we snapped: week 14

Thanks for stopping by! I’m excited to have reached the 100 day mark in my photo-a-day project! Admittedly, I’ve been a little lax about getting one photo EVERY day during the month of October since it’s been so busy, but I am definitely still snapping every week :). I am sharing my world in photos for the week of October 12-18. This was our peak week for fall foliage colors in the Twin Cities metro area, and I absolutely LOVE the warm fall afternoon light. Both inspired my captures this week. We also picked out pumpkins and soaked in some sun at the park during one of the last warmish days of fall. And, I continued to play around with my macro lens. Thanks for taking a look! And, when you’re done, hop over to see what Erica of Love Baby Life shared this week in the And then we Snapped circle   99|365: When you found a treasure floating by. 100|365 (woo hoo for 100 days!): When you and daddy shared sweet moments together. I’m so thankful to have these moments captured <3 101|365: When your grubby, adventurous hands picked up this lovely yellow leaf. 102|365: When I spotted […]

My Minnesota: August 2014

and then we snapped | week 4

Welcome to my 365 project!  I am still playing catch-up with my photos. So, I’m sharing the week of July 29 – August 2. It was a busy week filled with some firsts like a first nail salon visit for the littles, an X-ray for a suspected broken bone, and some old favorites, like staying out to play until the sun set. Once you’ve viewed my week, I invite you to follow along the ‘And then we Snapped’ blog circle to see more project | 365s from a slew of uber-talented photographers. Find the link following my images.   22/365: when you got your first pedicure at a nail salon with momma. 23/365: when you weren’t ready to wake up from nap 24/365: when you & daddy spent the afternoon in the backyard…harvesting the first cucumbers and looking for wildflowers 25/365: when you wanted the swinging to last forever, since this is the first summer you can pump your legs all by yourself 26/365: when we all headed to the doctor to get an X-ray on the littlest little’s arm, following a fall the night before. An X-ray of the wrist & elbow revealed no broken bones. 27/365 when I […]

and then we snapped wk 3

Welcome to the 3rd installment of my 365 project, and the 3rd week of my collaboration with an amazing group of photographers.  This is a look at my week of July 20-26th….the heart of summer in MN. 15/365: When you slowed down for a few seconds to have a snack at the beech (lens baby sweet 35) 15/365: When I had to pause for a moment and look at your freckles….because I love them, and you get more every day <3  (freelensed) 17/365: When is was WAY too quiet upstairs and I walked in on you two partners in crime, who snuck in some unauthorized time on the iPad.  18/365: When we went on a walk on a hot summer day and I couldn’t stop taking pictures of the wildflowers, which are synonymous with our landscape in July. And also, I pretended I can create images of non-humans! 19/365: When you took a little longer than expected to brush your teeth, and I walked in to find you naked on the counter giving your self a bath in the sink. 20/365: When you were so proud of the self-portrait you made with chalk. And I was proud, too. 21/365: When […]

project | 365 : week 1

So, I started a photo-a-day project at the beginning of July-on my birthday to be exact.  And, I’ve been hoarding the photos on my computer ever since. And, I have decided to blog these photos of my daily life, hereby making this project “official!!”  And, don’t be surprised if it looks like I took several pictures in one day…because I probably did…because I’m taking the advice of a fellow photographer and allowing myself to take 7 photos per week, versus strictly one each day (in hopes that this will be a successful 365 project). And, in another effort to be successful on this venture, while also supporting others on a similar journey, I am participating in a project|365 blog circle! So, I invite you to follow along on my journey, and also to follow the blog circle around to see the work of my fellow photographers. You’ll be glad you did….because they’re all incredible 🙂 Week one: July 6-12, 2014 1|365  when you ate your snack with an excavator 2|365 when the two of you decided you liked going to the dentist’s office 3|365 when you took off on a magical adventure on the trail 4|365 when you found a turtle […]

my minnesota : june edition (water, water, everywhere!)

June was full of water, and it came in a variety of forms. We (finally!) welcomed the return of warmer days, which meant playing in the sprinklers, splashing in swimsuits, and visits to our local beaches and lakes. We also experienced heaps of rain, which actually caused some flooding, but at least it was was good for a little puddle-jumping in the rain boots! Here’s what our Minnesota in June looked like! Thank you so much for stopping by to see My Minnesota in June. You can continue the blog circle by visiting Tina Fisher’s blog. And, you can check out her Facebook fan page here!

april showers bring…may dandelions

We had lots and lots of rain in April….and in may we got lots of dandelions. Fortunately (??), my girls are expert dandelion pickers. We found these “flowers” everywhere…at the lake, at our house, on walks, in parking lots….My daughters put them in bags, in their pockets, in vases, in their hair….you get the point. Let’s just say I’m glad June is finally here 😉

my minnesota: may edition

I am so excited to join an amazing group of Minnesotan photographers for the first time this month as part of a blog circle called “My Minnesota.” May was a very challenging month for me with my photography, but in the best possible ways! I participated in an intense, but amazing photography workshop, and also stepped out of my comfort zone when I photographed a new kind of subject. You don’t have to look at my body of work long to see that I primarily photograph people. But, I recently took on a project photographing the sights of Plymouth, MN for the popular Plymouth lunch spot Dufner’s Deli, which is finishing up a remodel. This was quite different for me, as there were no children to observe or entertain, no rapid-fire clicking to capture (quickly) moving subjects, no outfits to coordinate, no moving of furniture to find the best window light and no scheduled session time. It was just me, my camera, and my vision. And. I. Loved. It. Don’t get me wrong, I am truly passionate about capturing the heart, soul and memories of children and families, but this was therapeutic in a way that I didn’t expect! So, even though […]
