My Minnesota

My Minnesota | February Edition Somehow, I really let myself slack off of my personal shooting this month. Boo! But, I managed to bring my camera out into the community at least once in February. My hubby and I took the girls to open skate at a local ice rink. The girls did great and we all had a blast! You may notice that there are not many zero photos of us actually on the ice. Let’s just say that my ice skating skills were a little rusty. This Texan girl hasn’t put ice skates on in a few years

And let’s face it, I was never a figure skating champ to begin with. Hubby remembers skating once in his entire life, soooo there was that learning curve, too. Anyway, we all survived and lived to tell about it, AND no one even fell. Victoria Lifestyle Newborn Photographer | Baby B

victoria lifestyle newborn photographer Lifestyle and documentary newborn sessions are some of my very favorite sessions. So, I was thrilled when January was bustling with baby births! I love chatting with mommas of newborns, and watching the parents fall in love with their new babes. And, I love watching the older siblings embrace their new roles. And, since the baby days are over at my house, I really love swaddling and swaying those sweet babies! One of my favorite things about this particular session was how much big sister was in complete awe of her new baby sister. When I walked inside, big sister was snuggling baby girl. I watched her taking in every detail. I also adored the special sign that mom made for Baby B. It read: “On every candle, on every cake. With every prayer our hearts did make. On every star. both far and near. We hoped for you and now you’re here.” Welcome to the world, Baby B. Here are a few a lot of my favorites… I am currently booking newborn sessions. Minnetonka Wedding photographer | Rhonda and Jim I was thrilled when Rhonda contacted me about capturing her fall wedding on Lake Minnetonka. She and her fiancé planned an intimate ceremony at the beautiful Norenberg Gardens in Wayzata, followed by reception in the Lafayette Club’s gorgeous ballroom with live music from the Big Island Band. It sounds perfect, and it was!! Rhonda and Jim’s love story is just as incredible. It gave me chills when I heard it! The two of them were acquaintances in high school, and shared a circle of friends. Then, they went their separate ways. Years later, they found their way back to each other again and fell in love. Here are some of my favorite moments and details from their special day. I owe thanks to Ally of Allyson Wasmund Photography who served as my second shooter for this event. Chanhassen lifestyle photographer Last week I shared the sneak peek of the adorable C family. I am back to share even more sun-drenched goodness from their family session. Baby CC recently turned one-year-old, so her family contacted me to document that milestone. I am so glad they did! Minnesota provided a beautiful night with perfect weather. The C family provided smiles and giggles. Baby CC showed off new teeth and new (walking) moves. Big brother was full of life, laughter and cuddles for mom, dad, and little sister. minnetonka lifestyle photographer | last days of summer I’m feeling the calm before the storm in oh so many ways! We’re hanging on to the last shreds of warmth up here in Minnesota. Winter will be here much too soon. Or should I say, “winter is coming!” Sorry, I couldn’t help it

Anyway, before all that, it’s FALL, and that means the fall family photo bonanza fun will soon begin! Before it does, I’m scouting new locations and grabbing some photos of my own family. I also dusted off some rarely used lenses to spark the creative juices. This week, I picked up the lens baby edge 80. I also chose to edit this entire series in b & w. We were in full, mid-day sun, and I felt like the contrast from the harsh light played well with the b & w edit.
