My husband and I were gifted airline passes for the entire year by my in-laws. We were thrilled and grateful for the opportunity, but we’ve never left our young kids behind to travel. So, we decided to do a (very) quick trip to nearby Chicago to see how everything would play out. We caught the earliest flight out of Minneapolis on Thursday. I literally watched the sun rise through the plane window. I can’t sleep on planes, so I spent the short flight making photos from my seat. We were in our hotel room in Chicago around 9am (so grateful for early check-in!). We ate breakfast at our hotel, visited the field museum, did a little shopping and then got dressed for dinner. We were able to get a table at Girl and the Goat because they had a last minute cancellation, and it was awesome. The food was absolutely AMAZING. And I’m a huge Top Chef fan, so I felt a little star struck eating there. We ended the evening with drinks at our hotel and were asleep by 10:30! We were back in Minneapolis by noon on Friday. It was a whirlwind 24 hours, but the kids were fine, and we had a great time! I loved Chicago and can’t wait to go back for longer than 24 hours 🙂 Here’s a little peek at what my incredibly short trip to Chicago looked like.
