minnetonka lifestyle photographer | last days of summer I’m feeling the calm before the storm in oh so many ways! We’re hanging on to the last shreds of warmth up here in Minnesota. Winter will be here much too soon. Or should I say, “winter is coming!” Sorry, I couldn’t help it 😉 Anyway, before all that, it’s FALL, and that means the fall family photo bonanza fun will soon begin! Before it does, I’m scouting new locations and grabbing some photos of my own family. I also dusted off some rarely used lenses to spark the creative juices. This week, I picked up the lens baby edge 80. I also chose to edit this entire series in b & w. We were in full, mid-day sun, and I felt like the contrast from the harsh light played well with the b & w edit.

chaska photographer| family & fireworks Chaska Photographer | The 4th of July was always one of my favorite holidays growing up. And, now it’s a favorite for my family! This was by far the best 4th holiday we’ve had. This year the kids were old enough to do a little more than in years past. We are able to cut the naps a little shorter. And, the littles stayed awake a little later. They were even allowed to watch the entire fireworks show. That was a first for both girls. Too bad no one slept in on the fifth! We usually visit the local Chanhassen fair. This year, the popular event, A Taste of Minnesota was held close to home. So we gave it a visit instead. The kids loved the carnival rides and getting a “taste of Minnesota.” Both girls rode ponies. There was even a petting zoo! We wrapped up with some quintessential fair fare, cotton candy and snow cones. After the “taste,” the kids took power naps. Then, I painted my girls’ faces (a tradition on the 4th). Chicago Getaway

My husband and I were gifted airline passes for the entire year by my in-laws. We were thrilled and grateful for the opportunity, but we’ve never left our young kids behind to travel. So, we decided to do a (very) quick trip to nearby Chicago to see how everything would play out.

My Minnesota: January Edition

I’m back again to share what My Minnesota looks like along with a few of my favorite local photographers. I took a literal approach to the project this month and spent an afternoon photographing the environment. With the exception of the last two images, I captured this set using the lensbaby edge 80. I just love the tiny “slice of focus” I can get with this lens, as well as the dreamy look is gives to outdoor images. My Minnesota | September Edition

Welcome back to the My Minnesota blog circle! I’m sharing images from some of my family’s favorite September adventures for this edition of My Minnesota. We started the month with a visit to a local apple orchard where the girls picked apples, met horses, and checked out farm equipment. I took the girls to a local Mexican bakery and grocery store, where I found I could purchase Mexican vanilla, one of my favorite baking staples! My hubby and I got to tour some local wineries with a group of awesome neighbors. We made our annual visit to Sever’s corn maze. I did some location scouting on my own where I found some lovely scenery and saw some spectacular fall sunsets. And, the girls got to travel with me to a shoot where they got to ride AND feed horses! april showers bring…may dandelions

We had lots and lots of rain in April….and in may we got lots of dandelions. Fortunately (??), my girls are expert dandelion pickers. We found these “flowers” everywhere…at the lake, at our house, on walks, in parking lots….My daughters put them in bags, in their pockets, in vases, in their hair….you get the point. Let’s just say I’m glad June is finally here 😉
