april showers bring…may dandelions

We had lots and lots of rain in April….and in may we got lots of dandelions. Fortunately (??), my girls are expert dandelion pickers. We found these “flowers” everywhere…at the lake, at our house, on walks, in parking lots….My daughters put them in bags, in their pockets, in vases, in their hair….you get the point. Let’s just say I’m glad June is finally here

april favorites, part 1

April’s melting snow and warmer temperatures made way for trips to the park, puddle jumping, and muddy adventures. We had so much outdoor fun, that I’ve decided to share our shenanigans in two parts. So, here are some of my favorites of my silly girls from the beginning of April.

scrub-a-dub, sisters in a tub

Well, the spring weather came for a couple days and then it left again :(. We got another snowstorm last week, and in an effort to keep things positive, I let the girls go swimming…in the bathtub! They were very excited to get such a treat, and stayed in the water well past the raisiny-finger stage. I had fun watching them “swim” and play, and was so intrigued at watching them interact with each other. They are close in age, but have starkly different personalities. My little one is fierce and independent, observant and a real dare-devil. But, as I watched through my lens, I noticed she’s still very much in awe of her big sister, imitating her at every chance. My first-born is gentle, cautious, emotional and kind-hearted. Can you guess who each girl is?

We were soooo happy that it was warm enough to get outside (without coats

) last weekend! We took a little walk around the neighborhood and even made it to the park. It’s always exciting to find some of nature’s “treasures” when we’re out.

Baby Girl B

She was just 3 days new during this session. I was in awe of her perfectly pink skin, and rosy red lips and cheeks. She just loved snuggles, too! Baby Girl W

After photographing one bouncing baby boy after the next (all too precious for words), I got the news that baby girl W had arrived. Eeek! FInally some pink! I met Baby girl W at just one week old and she was simply bursting with sweetness! I held the session in her lovely home, which was full of beautiful natural light. Big sister was gone with Daddy to do some special big sister things, so it was just a quiet house with mom, baby and myself. Despite an early arrival into this big world, Baby girl W was one strong little lady, and quite lively for the first portion of the session! Soon she was ready for a little nap. But first, she got sweet cuddles from momma. Then, it was time for her special pacifier….Baby W’s favorite one….the one that they don’t have a back-up of….the one that her mom said was a gift from someone and (so far) can only be found in a little store in Colorado (which a loooong way from MN!!). Snow Fun!

Being a native Texan, I haven’t gotten used to driving in the snow, or shoveling the snow, or pushing a shopping cart through the snow, and I may never. But, I do really love taking pictures in the snow! A lot. And, it’s even more wonderful when in the middle of a week with temps in the single digits, poof! we got a balmy day with a high of 28 degrees! I was so excited for the “warmer” weather, that after picking up my oldest daughter from preschool, we ditched our coats and went outside for a few minutes of snow play and pictures. Don’t get me wrong, it was still cold out there! Here are some of my favorites…

the L family

I had such a blast working with this family. They truly are as sweet as they are beautiful. With a bag full of prizes, props and treats in-tow for this session, I thought I was prepared for anything that two toddlers could throw at me because, well, what could be LESS fun for two little ones than a photo shoot!?
